Wessex 2401 is seen arriving at Guildford 26 November 2006, having been diverted down the New line due to line closure at Woking. She would then head on to Bournemouth.
My favourite DC unit, former Wessex electric 2401 now in service with Southern is seen on the approach to East Croydon 25 February 2012 heading for Gatwick Airport.
SWT Wessex electric 2403 is seen in full flight at Deepcut on the SWML heading for London Waterloo 05 May 2006.
5 WES 2403 storms around the curve at Purley Oaks bound for Gatwick 16 April 11.
These units have been fully refurbished at Wolverton & really look the part, the best DC units ever made.
With the distinctive whine from its traction motors Wessex unit 2405 is seen in full flight on the approach to Farnborough, with 1B37 London Waterloo-Poole 3 February 2007 the very last day working for SWT.
Wessex 2409+2411 coupled together stand at Eastleigh awaiting the road into the works for storage 27 January 2007.
Known as plastic pigs by train crew & enthusiasts for their snout like front end, which is shown too good effect in this shot.
2411 is seen arriving at Guildford 26 November 2006. Diverted up the Guildford New line due to line closure at Woking, she will rejoin the main line at Hampton Court Jctn & then on to London Waterloo.
The last scheduled day of use for the Wessex units on SWT was 13 January 2007.
This shot taken at London Waterloo shows 2411 & 2407 in adjacent platforms. Unit 2411 was failed due to an overheating bearing & returned ECS to Clapham yard.
Wessex unit 2413 stands in Eastleigh works stored OOU 08 September 2007. Note the SWT branding has been removed. This unit would go on to be used by Southern & now works the Brighton main line.
